Hi, I'm Anna Cantu! Aptfiive is my business where I create earrings, necklaces, and artwork inspired by my favorite movies and media like Studio Ghibli anime, Zelda, and Fantastic Mr. Fox. I also offer other unique collections of jewelry “basics” that I was always shopping for.
The story of me starting Aptfiive begins when I dropped out of Costume Design school in 2021, after dreaming of that career for 5 years.
I thought that costume design would be the perfect combination of my love for fashion, film, and art, but something wasn’t clicking.
I’d have to adhere to a directors vision. I wouldn’t be able to pick my scripts/productions (because career opportunities would be extremely limited). I wouldn’t have the complete freedom to be an artist.
I moved back home and had an identity crisis. If I wasn’t happy doing costume design, how would I find anything else?
To try to combat my identity crisis, I decided to shave my head! I started collecting more jewelry to decorate my ears that were freshly put on display, but had trouble finding what I wanted. So I started making some!
After I began making earrings, I started an Etsy and used those sales to get an apartment. After I moved in, I had enough sales to quit my coffee shop job and decided to invest all my time and creative energy into my lil hobby.
And that's how I started Aptfiive in apartment five!
Aptfiive is my dream job! I love that I can share my love for art, film, and fashion with others. I finally found the perfect combination.
By the end of 2023, I’ll have a fine jewelry line available!
I pour my creative energy into making jewelry that you won’t find anywhere else- I want my pieces to feel like wearable art, not just accessories you can find anywhere else.
